Banana Oatmeal Cookies Recipe with Delicious Chocolate Chips and also Walnuts.

All these Banana Oatmeal Cookies are hands down the best banana flavored cookie I've ever had. Not only are they really moist and chewy for times, but they are unmistakably banana-y.

Banana Oatmeal Cookies

Banana may be one of those flavors that may get lost once you inhale with it. It can be very delicate taste. It always bums me out once that occurs, cause I LOVE the taste of banana. And so does the hubs.

So when good flavored banana treats come along, we move a little mad for them.

These cookies make the listing of banana items to go mad for. Without a doubt.

And they're so moist, they melt in your mouth. Plus, using both banana and oats inside them, they're basically healthy, right? And ideal for breakfast!

Creating them is equally as simple as eating them.

You have the typical suspects -- butter, brown sugar, white sugar, an egg, vanilla and mashed bananas. You start with mixing all of those beautiful ingredients together.

I have to warn you. The odor of the mixture -- using the banana -- is equally intoxicating. The hubs was in the kitchen creating the dough with me (we left a deal that contained him baking with me) and we both had to work hard not to put our faces, or even a straw, right in to it.

Then you add all the ingredients (which means you only use one bowl yay!) And mix it all together!

To bake them, spoon about a tablespoon of dough and produce a thick disk, as opposed to a chunk. They spread somewhat when baking, and therefore don't put them too close together. Bake them for about 10-12 minutes to get a nice, moist cookie. So yummy!

One additional thing I really like about this recipe is really where it came out.

My grandma (my father's mother ) passed out in 2008. After I started draining a lot a few years back, my uncle gave me cookbook that he'd had didn't use. I have had it in my list to produce numerous her desserts since.

It was a tradition for my grandma to make them each Christmas! She gave everyone a big tin of them, which was really a feat with 6 sons.

I know precisely how much of an effort it was! My goodness. She left them with a traditional gaufrette iron that goes over a open fire. My dad and I had them on the stove. They cook very quickly and you need to be precise. Too long and they kind of disintegrated into the iron. Overly long and they burned into the iron and we had to scrub it out.

My father was minding the batter and taking away the biscuits, I had been working the ironthe hubs was time things. It required many tries to get it right, but they were so great! I've tried to make them on my own and it never works. I'd love to share the recipe, but the dang irons are all so tough to find. And pricey. At some point, I'd like to just make a cookie cutter with the same gaufrette taste.

Banana Oatmeal Cookies

For today though, I am sharing these biscuits. I really don't think I had them when she made them, but they're from her book.

It's such an enjoyable recipe book to check through, also. There are many handwritten pages, including clippings and paper recipes that were taped to the publication. I love the way they used to write recipes in the newspaper -- they'd the individual who filed it's title and cute little stories. It's so fun to read ! What another time in the world!

Banana Oatmeal Cookies

Anyways, I do not know where this recipe originated from. The newspaper looks like it had been on a flier from their square dance class or something (they were big to square dance ). It's definitely from West browse around here Virginia, where they lived.

In any event, I am so happy to finally share a recipe out of her novel with you! I made a couple of adjustments to make them thicker and puffier and they're delicious. There'll be more to come from her recipe book, but for now like the banana.
